Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Sunset Capital LLC ("Sunset," "we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use Index on macOS, iOS, or the web services that support those apps.
Information we collect
- Account information. Your email address, authentication-provider identifier, and session information.
- Content you choose to save. Links, notes, selected text, screenshots, documents, videos, files, annotations, titles, and other context you send to Index.
- Generated and derived information. Extracted text, summaries, embeddings, metadata, chat messages, responses, and citations created to organize or discuss your saved content.
- Feedback. Messages and basic app context you submit through the Feedback screen.
- Operational information. App version, device type, request identifiers, error and security logs, and similar technical information needed to operate and protect the service. We do not use this information for third-party advertising.
How we use information
We use information to authenticate you; save, organize, retrieve, and discuss your content; synchronize your devices; respond to feedback; maintain security and reliability; and improve Index. We do not sell your personal information or use your saved content to serve third-party advertising.
Service providers and model processing
Index relies on service providers acting on our behalf. Supabase provides authentication, database, and file-storage infrastructure, and Vercel hosts our application programming interface and legal pages. Model providers, including OpenAI when enabled, may process the content needed to generate an answer, extraction, or embedding. Apple and an identity provider such as Google may process information when you use their platform or sign-in service. Their handling of information is also governed by their own terms and privacy policies.
We disclose only the information reasonably needed for a provider to perform its service. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect rights or safety, or in connection with a corporate transaction.
Storage, security, and retention
Index is a cloud-connected service; your content is not guaranteed to remain only on your device. We use technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect stored information, but no system is perfectly secure. We generally retain account content while your account is active. Limited security logs and backups may persist for a reasonable period where required for integrity, fraud prevention, or legal compliance.
Your choices and account deletion
You may delete individual saved items or chats in the app. You may permanently delete your account from Feedback → Account → Delete Account. Account deletion removes your captures, uploaded files, processed content, chats, citations, feedback, and Index authentication identity from the active service. This action cannot be undone.
Children
Index is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
International use
Your information may be processed in the United States and other countries where our providers operate. Those locations may have different data-protection laws from your country.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Index changes. We will update the effective date and provide additional notice when required by law.
